Conference-concert: the organ in the liturgy

Presented by Michel Steinmetz (priest of the Strasbourg’s diocese). In French.

Musical illustrations by Daniel Roth and Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin.


Michel Steinmetz, professor of liturgical sciences at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), will present a lecture on the place and role of the organ in the liturgy.

This conference will be followed by two interventions by the organists of the great organ :

Daniel Roth will speak about the role of the liturgical organist and the choice of pieces for the services.

Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin will evoke the question of improvisation through musical illustrations.

Extracts from works by Nivers, Franck, Demessieux, Bach, Widor & Roth.
